The Grand Palais is dedicating a retrospective exhibition to Chiharu Shiota, co-organized with the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo, the largest ever devoted to the artist in Europe. The exhibition will include seven large-scale installations, sculptures, photographs, drawings, performance videos and archival documents.

Biennale d’Aix, France
From May 18 to October 6, 2024
On the occasion of the second edition of the Biennale d’Aix, Chiharu Shiota takes over three of Aix-en-Provence’s heritage sites. The Japanese artist weaves her web and deploys her protean works in the Pavillon de Vendôme museum, the Musée des Tapisseries and the Chapelle de la Visitation.
Collaboration
Chiharu Shiota has created the original artwork Universe of Mouton for the label of Château Mouton Rothschild 2021. Since 1945, the labels for each vintage of Château Mouton Rothschild have been illustrated by an original artwork, adding year after year to the unique collection of contemporary art which brings together very different artists from many different backgrounds.

Chiharu Shiota’s solo show The Soul Trembles first curated by Mami Kataoka at Mori Art Museum, in Tokyo has been traveling throughout Asia-Pacific since 2019 and has now arrived in Shenzhen Art Museum in China. Presenting works from the last 25 years, including multiple large-scale installations as well as sculptures, performance videos, photographs, drawings, and documentary footage of different stage designs for dance and opera.
