Philip Pearlstein

L’artiste

 

Né en 1924 à Pittsburgh en Pennsylvanie, Philip Pearlstein décède en 2022. Il est considéré comme l’un des grands maîtres de la nouvelle figuration et du réalisme contemporain. Depuis les années 1960, il explore la question de la représentation du modèle vivant à travers des œuvres complexes à la frontière entre naturalisme, abstraction et hyperréalisme. Ses natures mortes à l’huile mettent en scène des nus, souvent féminins, aux expressions figées dans des intérieurs savamment agencés.
