Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Rabat
From April 2 to June 15, 2025
The Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art is devoting a solo show to Kehinde Wiley until June 15, 2025. The exhibition A Maze of Power presents a series of eleven portraits of African heads of states, in which the artist goes beyond the simple contours of figuration to explore more deeply the notion of power and its representation.

Museum of Black Civilizations, Dakar

The Museum of Black Civilizations in Dakar is hosting the exhibition Kehinde Wiley – A maze of power, originally organised by the Musée du Quai Branly – Jacques Chirac. The exhibition, which opens tomorrow, is devoted to a series of eleven portraits of African heads of state – an exploratory project, still in process, around the representation of power, on which the painter has been working confidentially since 2012.

Amref Health Africa (Amref), la plus importante organisation africaine de soins de santé au monde, rendra hommage à l’artiste afro-américain Kehinde Wiley lors de son événement ArtBall 2024. Kehinde Wiley est notamment connu pour ses portraits qui représentent des personnes de couleur dans le cadre traditionnel des tableaux de maîtres anciens, y compris son sujet le plus célèbre, Barack Obama, pour la National Portrait Gallery. Le prix Rees Visionary Award de l’Amref, nommé d’après son fondateur, le Dr Thomas Rees, récompense les personnes qui ont modifié le discours sur l’art africain et noir.

The traveling exhibition of a monumental body of work, with large-scale paintings and sculptures, premiered earlier this year at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco.
