RANT – Solo show VILLA SCHÖNINGEN, POTSDAM, GERMANY From 9 November, 2019 to 23 February, 2020 POMPA- Solo show ST. MATTHÄUS-KIRCHE, BERLIN, GERMANY From 10 November 2019 to16 February, 2020
“I would never have been an artist without the fall of the Wall.” In November 2019, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, painter Norbert Bisky reflects on the end of the GDR, the chaos of the post-reunification era and his personal experience with two parallel exhibitions, POMPA and RANT, in Berlin and Potsdam.
VILLA ARSON, NICE, FRANCE From 08/02/2019 to 26/05/2019
Following the exhibition Tainted Love (Where did our love go) held in Poitiers in 2017 for the reopening of the Confort Moderne, Villa Arson offers a “Club Edit” version with the complicity of Yann Chevallier and some 30 artists from all walks of life.
This exhibit will not speak, the image is still, the sound is off. Elegant attire, fragmented bodies, suggested silhouettes dancing to the hit with words of black hearts, all enhance the feeling of suspension and simulate a sentimental form of mysticism. The pieces pose, lives run into each other, sensitivity reveals itself. Intimacy, secrecy, alcoves, bedrooms and other meeting places become the space itself for an exhibition and an explicit. Cheap sentiments and morality often give power to the cynical. To wear hybrid, reversible and moving identities, made of games, masks and cross-dress ups, means you’re entirely free to embrace a scandalous reality.

BÖTZOW, BERLIN
Balagan – the Persian term for chaos and confusion, which can also be linked to partying and exuberance – brings together new works by Norbert Bisky. The majority of the pieces were completed in Tel Aviv where the German artist experimented an atelier swap with fellow artist Erez Israeli, from January to March. His burnt bus installation, his large scale colourful paintings and smaller works on paper give some insights into both sides of his ambiguous work : angst and ‘joie de vivre’.
Marta Herford, Garmany
From May 12th to September 16th 2012 This top-class exhibition developed at Marta Herford addresses the diverse relationship between two creative production centres: the artist’s studio and the kitchen. Connected by the pleasurable use of new materials and ingredients as well as the close involvement of the senses, both these rooms have also undergone a process of transformation over the centuries. Artists’ studios have developed from master craftsmen’s workshops into mysterious studios of brilliant creators and later factory-like studios or multimedia laboratories. And a parallel path has been charted by the kitchen, which has evolved from an archaic fireplace into a rural kitchen-cum-living-room, the small kitchens found in blocks of flats, and modern open high-tech units. Museo dell’arte del novecento e del contemporaneo – Covento del Carmelo, Sassari, Italy
From April 13th to June 13th 2012 What does it mean to speak of “the persistence of painting”? In Berlin today, this expression represents a remarkable diversity of practices ranging from abstraction and realism to highly expressive, narrative, and post-narrative painting. These distinct painterly positions, which are represented by the 18 artists featured in this exhibitions, all involve a self-reflexive investigation of the painterly process and of the nature of contemporary painting.
