The Museum of the Hospice Saint-Roche of Issoudun devotes its exhibition spaces to the Artiste Valeria Adami from June 18 to September 11, 2016 by showing 80 works, photographs, drawings as well as paintings from the end of the 1960s to present.
Valerio Adami is one of the main figures of the Narrative Figuration movement whose works are inspired by photographic documents and the style of comic books. Flat color blocks framed by a black line characterize his paintings. The reduced drawings show fragments that associate personal symbolic motives, memories of journeys, some of his experiences in the fields of music, theater or literature.

Following a major retrospective at the Haus der Kunst in Munich, BOZAR opens its doors to James Casebere. This American photographer a pioneer of staged photogrpahy – studied with John Baldessari and obtained his Master of Arts from the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). His work is marked by a profound interest in architecture. Yet rather than focusing his lens on the actual buildings, he makes scale models of them, which he then photographs. During the International Biennial of Photography Casebere presents an intricate ensemble of domestic interiors and settings in the antechambers of Victor Horta’s Centre for Fine Arts.

Monday, June 13, 2016 7pm Opening and Performance First presented at the Getty Museum in 2008, ‘Muscle and Salt’ (2016) by Jim Dine is an immersive installation in the Antikenmuseum Basel and Sammlung Ludwig, inspired by two forms of classical art: figural sculpture and lyric poetry. On Monday at 7.30pm, Dine will read from his poems while being accompanied by a double bass player.

‘Traffic’ is a mobile composed of seven pairs of traffic lights that loop continuously from soft green to yellow to red. By employing the lights in this way, Navarro detaches a ubiquitous element from daily life and transforms it into a new perpetual experience, igniting an unconscious awareness of something that in ordinary use conditions the public’s psychological behavior.

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts presents Kehinde Wiley: A New Republic, showcasing the powerful and poignant work of one of America’s leading contemporary artists. Composed of approximately 60 works, including paintings, sculptures, videos, and stained glass windows, the exhibition provides an overview of Wiley’s prolific 14-year career, prominently featuring his signature figurative canvases of black men in which he ingeniously reworks the grand portraiture traditions of Western culture.
A fully illustrated catalogue published by the Brooklyn Museum and DelMonico Books/Prestel accompanies the exhibition.
Kehinde Wiley: A New Republic is organized by the Brooklyn Museum and Eugenie Tsai, the John and Barbara Vogelstein Curator of Contemporary Art at the Brooklyn Museum.
