The catalogue, Dog on the Forge , is published by Editions Steidl with poems by Jim Dine. This exhibition is organized by the Kunsthaus Göttingen and supported by TEMPLON.
“Unlike artists who focus on a single medium, Jim, since his first works made while still at high school, has – over the course of seven decades – explored and respectfully disrespected materials and processes. He takes this approch to a new intensity in his exhibition Dog on the Forge at the Palazzo Rocca, a collateral Event at La Bienna di Venezia. Here Jim re-invents some of his most beloved motifs, includings pinocchios, antique sculpture, hearts and tools, all in eclectic combinations of media such as painted bronze and collage on canvas.”

On the occasion of the 60th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia this April, American painter, sculptor and poet Jim Dine is set to take over the Palazzo Rocca Contarini Corfù with an ambitious survey exhibition curated by Gerhard Steidl, Founding Director of the Kunsthaus Göttingen. Open from 20 April through 21 July, 2024.
